Jonathan grew up in a little town called Assenede, in Belgium. Having lived in the bakery of his parents for his entire life, he decided to leave baking to others and studied chemistry at Ghent University, Belgium. Working in the Lab of prof. Zeger Hens, Isabel Van Driessche and José Martins, he obtained his PhD with a dissertation entitled; The surface chemistry of metal oxide nanocrystals, from theory to applications. As a member of the Owen group, Jonathan is working on the synthesis of new nanocrystals. Outside the lab, he enjoys swimming and badminton or plays board games with his friends.
